Becoming Another Christ

Father Gabriele Amorth's ordination

This is the second part of our investigation of Father Gabriele’s chart and life. You can read the first part here.

Here, I want to have a look at when he became a priest.

He was ordained in January the 24th, 1954.

I usually don’t use, in my practice, the firdaria. I have nothing against them, but establishing greater periods don’t fit well with what I normally do with clients. They tend to want me to assess the likelihood of concrete events.

But for those who like them, it happened in the Firdar Mercury period, Sun subperiod. And, yes, although I said I don’t used them, I see that being ordained — being made an “Alter Christi”, a Vicar of Christ — is symbolically congruent with a Sun/Mercury mixture.

And Mercury rules his ninth house, and while it is a tenth-house event, it has obvious relations to ninth-house stuff, as we’ll see in a bit.

Profections for that year.

It’s a fifth-house profection, which does not mean fifth-house stuff will happen, but that we may pay attention to its ruler, Saturn.

But I think it’s noteworthy that the profected Ascendant hits the South Node, as getting a job is excellent, but it’s also restrictive — and a job as a priest is even more restrictive.

Profected Saturn hits the natal sixth house cusp (and Sun-Venus hit the natal twelfth cusp).

Pluto and Fortune profect onto the natal Sun-Venus-Saturn configuration, while profected Moon, by antiscion, hits natal Pluto.

Profected Jupiter falls onto natal North Node by antiscion (and the opposite is also tru, profected NN falls onto natal Jupiter).

Profected Mars opposes natal Mercury.

Of course, this happens over and over in his life, as all profections do, and it’s never translated into the same events.

But it’s interesting to note the important Sun-Venus-Moon-Saturn natal testimony being activated; Jupiter being associated with the North Node, “jovial expansion”;and Mercury being stressed (both as Mercury and as ninth-house ruler, it has something to say on an ordination).

Before moving further, I’ll note down the seven Key Arabian Parts for Father Gabriele’s natal chart, which may play a role later.

Fortune: 11 06 Capricorn

Necessity: 16 31 Aries

Love: 24 51 Pisces

Spirit: 00 16 Cancer.

Bravery: 22 04 Aries

Victory: 05 35 Cancer

Captivity: 05 45 Sagittarius.

Progressions

The Ascendant and the Midheaven do nothing of note.

The Sun opposes natal and progressed Jupiter by antiscion.

Venus hits progressed Mars and Pluto by antiscion (and opposes natal Fortune by antiscion).

The Moon hits natal Descendant.

Fortuna hits progressed and natal Jupiter, opposes progressed Sun by antiscion, and conjuncts the Part of Captivity.

In short: Jupiter emphasized — as it was in the profections; Mars, Fortune (part of the Moon); again the Sun, and the Descendant.

—> Of course, I wouldn’t say it without looking at the Solar Return if it was a real consultation, but it seems to fit with the beginning of a new religous career. The Descendant also fits, because it’s a job that deals with people, and the Fortune (which might stand for the Moon) also fits because the Moon rules the tenth house.

The Solar Return.

Well, the first thing we notice is an emphasis on the tenth house. Mercury is right on it, but Venus — natal Ascendant ruler — is also there.

Jupiter — which rules the Solar Return ninth-house — is, by antiscion, on the Ascendant.

Solar Return Saturn, from the very bottom of the chart, exalted there (risen in the Abyss, as it were) is exactly opposed natal… yes, from what I’ve said here, you’d probably say “Mercury”, and you’d be right. It’s also opposed natal part of Bravery (of Mars, which rules the tenth house here).

Solar return Moon (ruler of the natal tenth house) is conjunct natal Jupiter (by antiscion) and natal Part of Captivity (by body).

Pluto, by antiscion, conjuncts the Sun and all that I’ve been saying.

So, those testimonies from the profections and progressions illuminate tenth- and ninth-house stuff in this chart. We don’t need anything more.

… but there is more.

Natal part of Necessity (of Mercury) is on the SR Midheaven.

Natal part of Victory (of Jupiter) is on the SR twelfth house of occult enemies, which mirror the sixth- and twelfth- house testimonies I mentioned before.

When we go to the Arabian Parts by Natal Arc (the seven key Parts calculated with the Solar Return Ascendant, instead of the Ascendant from the birth chart), we see that:

Natal Arc Part of Love (of Venus) is conjunct natal Jupiter (that is, it is also conjunct SR Moon and Natal Part of Captivity by antiscion). Venus rules the first in the Natal chart.

Natal Arc Part of Captivity (of Saturn) is conjunct the natal Ascendant. Restrictions, again.

Of course there is something conjunct the all-important multiple configuration: Natal Arc Part of Fortune (of the Moon) is conjunct natal Saturn.

Natal Arc Part of Necessity also hits the same place, being opposed the natal Moon (and, therefore, conjunct natal Saturn). The Natal Arc part of Bravery (of Mars) is too far from the part of Mercury to be conjunct it, but close enough to Saturn by antiscion to hit the same spot.

Natal Arc part of Victory (of Mars) is conjunct the second house of the Solar Return (which fits getting a job, and a salary; Mars rules the tenth in the SR).

The testimonies from the parts seem to confirm the ones we’ve seen before, but add, with so many oppositions, more tension… his career will be more combative than the average priest.

OK, to conclude, a quick look at the Lunar Return.

The first thing I noticed was the Sun. No, it’s not conjunct the MC, it’s still in Capricorn. But it rules the fourth house, and it’s about to enter its detriment. It’s hard not to remember this:

It also means that Venus, ruler of the Ascendant in both charts, is about to leave combustion.

Mercury again seems to be important — and it is, indeed, conjunct the MC.

Lunar Return Saturn is conjunct natal Saturn (and all that stuff that comes with it).

Lunar Return North Node is conjunct natal Jupiter.

Well, jovial expansion, first-house ruler beginning to be seen, MC and natal ruler of the ninth conjunct, Saturn, Lunar Return MC ruler, emphasized, that natal triple conjunction-with-opposition-to-Saturn in play… it checks out.

I said it was a quick look, so I’m going to stop here.

The reader who wants more work can take a deeper dive into this Return, and/or check the fixed stars in play in the Solar Revolution (and maybe the progressions).

I hope you have liked it, because I’m not yet done with this chart.

See you soon. God bless you all!
